Hello to all, we are back with a fun post showcasing the new pictures of Prince George.
The pictures were released late today, the young Prince is seen sitting on the steps of Kensington Palace. They were taken by Ed Lane-Fox, Prince Harry’s private secretary.
For a professional’s insight about what Prince George is wearing, we turn to Patrick Sawyer’s story in The Telegraph:
Tony Glenville, the creative director of the London College of Fashion, said: “With so many children nowadays dressed as mini-adults, perhaps the royal family are right to go for a classic look for George.
“They have to bear in mind these photographs will be looked at for years to come. But while it may be a convention for him to look like Prince Charles did at the same age, the retro or vintage look is in fact very of the moment.”
While the vest is no longer available UPDATED Sunday, Dec. 14, 2014
Cath Kidston tells The Daily Telegraph they will re-issue George’s Guards sweater vest/tank top. From The Telegraph story:
Clothes and homeware retailer Cath Kidston is rushing to restock a sold-out tank top made famous by Prince George in his official Christmas photographs.
The Cath Kidston spokesman said: “Our guards tank top, as seen on Prince George is now sold out. Due to popular demand, we are going to look at adding it back into our range of kidswear in 2015.”
The Swedish firm has been making children’s clothing for more than 35 years, they now have 100+ stores throughout Sweden and Europe. The company has a US website for those interested in its products and it also offers merchandise on Amazon.
We’re still debating precisely what trousers George is wearing. Looking at a digitally enhanced photo one can see that the Prince’s trousers are corduroy, with a fine wale. It also looks like the leg openings are elasticized. (We originally thought they might be a cotton velvet but that is not the case.) Initially it looked like they might be the Christopher Bloomer by Chelsea Clothing Company, as seen at Trotters. But if one looks very, very closely at the photo, there is a button at the hem, something the Chelsea Clothing pair does not. Other possibles include: Polarn O. Pyret navy Baby Corduroy Trousers at John Lewis A brand called Aletta offers the Baby Boy Casual Trouser in a color they call dark blue Aletta also sells the Boy Casual Trouser in navy also similar Below we show a closeup of Prince George’s cuff, as well a pair of the Aletta Boy Casual Trousers in beige, and the navy pair, both digitally lightened and without any enhancement. We also looked at the Babe and Tess Velvet Trousers in Petrol Blue: although these are referred to as velvet, when digitally treated they look like they have a very fine wale. However, they do not have a button, at least not one that is visible in the product photos.
UPDATE: December 19. 2014
The shorts are by Amaia Kids, a boutique located in Chelsea Green. They are the brand’s Griotte Bloomer in navy corduroy. The bloomers are usually available in a variety of colors, including royal blue, yellow and beige. It looks like all colors and sizes are out of stock, we have made an inquiry asking if/when they will be available for ordering. The bloomers retail for £36, about $56 at today’s exchange rates.
Prince George’s knee socks are also from Amaia, this link takes you to the style he is wearing.
George’s shoes are the Start-Rite Jo First Walker in navy leather.
Our thanks to Camilla Tominey of the Sunday Express and Emily Andrews of The Sun for their skill in IDing almost everything George is wearing!
The most recent official portrait of Prince George was released for his first birthday in July.
As to why the photographs have been released, we return to The Telegraph story:
Royal sources made clear the pictures have been released as part of an acknowledgement of the restraint shown by the media in allowing him to grow up without intrusion from photography.
The young Prince has certainly grown in the last few months! We hope it is a very Merry Christmas for Kate, William and George.
